DeCurtis Corporation Wins Supplier of the Year at Annual Seatrade Awards Dinner

DeCurtis Corporation, the leader in indoor location and proximity-based guest experience solutions, was named Supplier of the Year 2019 during the Annual Seatrade CLIA Gala Awards Dinner September 11th in Hamburg, Germany. DeCurtis was nominated by Virgin Voyages for Supplier of the Year for the unique booking platform used on their website, which is part of the DeCurtis Experience Platform’s (“DXP”).  The other companies to make the shortlist in the Supplier of the Year category were Intellian Technologies and V.Ships Leisure.

“We were shocked and thrilled to be recognized by the judges for our work in cruise reservations, “ said Derek Fournier, President, “Getting to know the competition let us know how high the bar would be, so we are truly honored that our work for Virgin Voyages and our efforts with fantastic partners like Versonix  and PokeLondon was acknowledged with this award.”

DeCurtis Corporation collaborated with both PokeLondon and Versonix deeply on this project.  With a clean, crisp and intuitive UX design that resonates with their sailors and a rule-based reservations system that enables an efficient search and book path, the result is a platform that exceeded expectations.  As described in the nomination, the solution is outperforming any other booking platform in the cruise industry and boasts outstanding results, with <1% reported issues, a testament to the ease of use of the website and flexibility of the underlying platform. Virgin Voyages’ site now utilizes the shortest booking flow in the industry, with 6 clicks to a checkout.

“Virgin Voyages is unique, and so is our booking platform, “said Blaine Schmidt Director of Shipboard Systems & Experience. “We are breaking with tradition with our ship, the Scarlet Lady, and we wanted every interaction with her to be non-traditional. DeCurtis delivered the booking system to meet our expectations, and we are glad their work was acknowledged by winning Supplier of the Year.”

The CLIA Gala Dinner was held in the spectacular Thiesen Rare Automobile Dealership in Hamburg. Members of the cruise industry enjoyed guest presenters, fabulous cuisine and were able to examine some practically priceless automobiles.
