DeCurtis Corporation Supports Special Olympics

Our clients and friends who know us at DeCurtis Corporation see that we work diligently every day with our talented team of architects, designers, developers and project managers to craft your guest experience vision into a cohesive and comprehensive solution. One thing you may not be as aware of is where we spend our time philanthropically and some of the ways we give back to the Central Florida community. A charity that is close to DeCurtis Corporation’s heart is Special Olympics Florida.

Special Olympics is a well-known charity, and we want to give some detailed information on their mission. The goal of Special Olympics Florida is to help people with intellectual disabilities take part as productive and respected members of society at large, by offering them a fair opportunity to develop and show their skills and talents through sports training and competition, and by increasing the public’s awareness of their capabilities and needs.

Special Olympics is not about “them.” It’s about “us.”

With every fundraiser, awareness piece and event they do, that is the point. It takes us — athletes, volunteers, families, sponsors, coaches, the general public — who are willing to open our minds and hearts and accept people with intellectual disabilities that make up the Special Olympics Florida community. We have accepted their open invitation to find our place in this great “family” and share it with others.

Join us at the 2019 Special Olympics Florida Invitational at Walt Disney World® Resort is May 10th. It is the 5th year that the DeCurtis Corporation has the honor to be the 4th largest sponsor of this event.  This charity has a personal meaning for our founder, Dave DeCurtis. His best friend’s son, Jake, who is an exceptional athlete loves to take part in the Special Olympics in Canada. Jake has been visiting us in Florida every year for each of his 20 years. The joy that Special Olympics have brought to Jake over the last 20 years makes this event incredibly personal for DeCurtis family to participate and sponsor.

The Special Olympics Florida Invitational at Walt Disney World® is one of the premier golf fundraising events in the world, bringing together Disney cast members and corporate citizens to make a significant impact in the lives of our athletes.  Over the past eight years, the Invitational has generated net revenue of more than $5.5M.
